Transnational Project Meeting of the DEE project in Sofia

On November 14 and 15, 2018, the ARCI team hosted in Sofia, the third consecutive transnational project meeting of  "DEE - Diversity, Equality and Inclusion in Pre - Primary Education and Care: a gender Perspective" project, funded by the European Commission under the The guests were greeted by an old Bulgarian tradition with bread and salt by the President of ARCI, Mrs. Tsvetelina Neshkova. On the meeting were  reviewed the progress of the project and its intellectual outputs. The development of the manual and the model for the teachers training in the pre-school education system for working with children  and the start of the teachers  training related to the topic were discussed. The next stages of the project started too, namely:

1. Developing materials and practices for parents;
2. Elaboration of recommendations for the policy makers on gender mainstreaming and equal opportunities for both girls and boys on the basis of:

- questionnaire on the level of awareness of the policy and decision-makers at local and EU level on the issues

• Research and analysis of existing regulations and legislation, by identifying strengths and weaknesses, best practices and the missing ones to be able to propose suggestions / recommendations to the responsible authorities in each country for diversifying the best practices to overcome gender stereotypes  (with a focus on pre-school education)..

The collected, summarized and analyzed information will be processed and its conclusions together with the findings of the analysis of  the existing policies will be the basis for elaboration of recommendations for the policy makers on  gender mainstreaming and equal opportunities for both girls and boys.
